Frequently asked questions

Is the MP3 output still lossless?

No. FLAC preserves the source audio losslessly; MP3 uses lossy compression. Choose a bitrate that fits your use and keep the original FLAC for archiving or further editing.

Where are my files processed?

These tools upload files for server processing. Files expire after 24 hours and are then scheduled for cleanup. Continue Editing remembers files in this browser tab until refresh. Processing does not use your credits.

Which formats and limits apply?

Audio input: MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, AAC and OGG. Video to MP3 accepts MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM with an audio track. Guests: 25 MB; signed-in users: 100 MB. Up to 10 minutes, mono or stereo. Audio outputs are MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A and OGG; extraction and compression export MP3. OGG uses Opus at 48 kHz; other outputs use 44.1 kHz and does not preserve tags or artwork.

A shareable copy of a FLAC master

FLAC is useful when you want a lossless source. For quick sharing or an MP3-only player, this converter makes a separate MP3 copy while leaving the FLAC file intact.

Size versus sound detail

The default MP3 bitrate is 192 kbps, and you can adjust it before starting. Lower bitrates may make the file smaller at the cost of audible detail. Large FLAC files still have the same upload and ten-minute limits.
